Ian T. Wells personally develops all strategic solutions customized for the firm's clients, and is the lead on prospect development services provided by the company. He is also responsible for fielding detailed research reports on high priority prospects. Ian is often supported by a team of independent associates who use their expertise to identify new major gift prospects and accurately assess their philanthropic potential. About Ian T. Wells The company's founder is a leading expert in the prospect development industry. He often provides articles and lectures on best practices to professional development organizations serving the nonprofit industry. Ian specializes in matters pertaining to proactive identification, detailed research, portfolio management, and campaign planning. Ian is a former Vice President of the New England Development Research Association (NEDRA), where served on the Board of Directors for the maximum three terms. During his tenure on the NEDRA Board, he held posts as Chairman of the organization's marketing committee, its membership committee, and the volunteer committee. Ian was also active as a Co-Chair of NEDRA's programming committee and its sponsorship committee.
Prior to founding his company, Ian served as Director of Prospect Development at Boston College. While at BC, he created a division dedicated to Prospect Discovery, reformed the department's ratings procedures, implemented protocols to streamline research requests, restructured the department to focus on campaign priorities, and incorporated data analytics into efforts to prioritize the university's constituents.
Ian previously worked at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he served as Associate Director of Development, Prospect Research. In that role, he oversaw a team of researchers while directly providing research support to some of the hospital's priority areas, including its Global Health, Medical Research, and Heart & Vascular divisions. Ian was a lead facilitator in efforts to create comprehensive development plans supporting multiple campaign objectives. He also spearheaded a prospect identification initiative that more than doubled the organization's rate for discovering new prospects.
Ian first entered the research industry at Boston Children's Hospital. He was a recipient of the Children's Hospital Trust Colleague Award for his commitment to serving the hospital and others. He held a number of positions of increasing complexity as he learned the fundamentals of prospect development.
Ian graduated from Boston College as a member of the Phi Alpha Theta honor society. He now lives with his family on the North Shore of Massachusetts.
